Minister of Education from Cayman Islands visits Stepping Stones

The Minister of Education, Hon Alden McNee McLaughlin Jr, his key advisors and aids together with a Headteacher visited Stepping Stones school this morning.

They are on tour of UK schools and learning spaces in the UK. We were very fortunate to have them visit the school and take lots of interest in the pupils work and the design of the learning spaces.

During their visit to Stepping Stones, they listened and watched the pupils demonstrate some of the wonderfully creative work they have been doing, using applications such as SketchUp, iMovie, Comic Life, website technologies and their own personal blog sites.

Stephen Heppell, who inspired the group to visit the UK, also wanted them to have a dialogue with Sheree Vertigan in Tasmania and also Peter Cowley who teaches at the Ingenium Classroom Project in Richmond, London. Hopefully the team have gone away full of inspiration and ideas for how to build future schools and learning environments on the Cayman Islands. I have suggested to them, that schools in the Cayman Islands and Stepping Stones should work together, sharing the creative possibilities and delight that technology and learning brings to children.
