Stepping Stones School Go Camping

19th July - 20th July 2007

Amy | Dominic | Daniel | Jessica | Amie | Claire | Jonathan

We travelled to nearby Farnham for our first camping expedition, an overnight stay with cooked meals and activities. The overnight camp contributed towards the Adventure Service Challenge and Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes.

Thursday 19th July

4:00pm Arrived at the campsite in Farnham and looked for a place to setup camp.

4:20pm We unloaded our camping kit and errected three dome tents.

5:30pm Cooking began, Pasta and Tomato flavoured sauce, with sauages. Dessert comprised of rice pudding and jam (yum!) Some of us chose to have them warmed up.

7:00pm Tidied away, we blew up the bouncy castle nearby and played a few games.

7:30pm Cricket on the green. 10 overs each and roughly 2 lives each!!

8:15pm Firelighting in the woods using a flint and steel to start the fires. We used cotton wool as the initial fuel, then added kindling and gradually larger wood.

9:00pm Marshmellows and camp fire songs.

9:40pm Preparing for bed, our first clap of thunder...!

10:00pm Everyone in bed, but not necessarily asleep!! Amie was the first to sleep though, one minute later! Full on storm with thunder and lightning then followed.

Friday 20th July

6:00am Awoken by claps of thunder and lightning.

7:15am Wake up, wash and breakfast

9:00am Tents put away and van loaded.

10:30am Returned back to school.
