BE VERY AFRAID!
a celebration of students' digital creativity

On Thursday 19th February 2004, BAFTA and Ultralab hosted a morning long celebration of student and children's digital creativity. The event was generously supported by DfES and showcased stunning installations, art work, film and new media including animation, by primary, secondary, FE and HE students.

Students from ten schools, colleges and universities invited questions from the public, BAFTA members, and the media to discuss what they did and how:

  • does the school work fit into a prescribed curriculum?
  • do the university students think school gave them enough creative freedom?
  • will the school students at 12 find progression at universities in 6 years' time?
  • what is a good 10 year old's video, what is an excellent one?
  • where is creativity in our education system - alive and well, or...?

Prof. Stephen Heppell was also present to give an insight into some of the issues and the way forward
